The Ukrainian ATO command provided journalists with conditions worse than in Somalia (VIDEO)
Kyiv, November 19 (PolitNavigator, Vladimir Raichenko) – In Africa, security forces treat journalists better than the Ukrainian command in the ATO zone.
This opinion was expressed by Inter TV channel journalist Roman Bochkala during a round table on journalistic standards during conflicts, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

He complained that Ukrainian journalists are not given any accreditation documents in the ATO zone, which leads to numerous misunderstandings and conflict situations with military personnel at checkpoints.
“Okay, you’re a journalist for the Inter channel, they tell you, here’s your ID, but I can definitely do the same for myself,” Bochkala shared the problem. “Where is some document, they ask, that would allow us to let you in?” How do we know that you’re not a spy and you won’t use your camera to film anywhere.”
The TV broadcaster reported that in the ATO zone, when accrediting journalists, there really is no document that would be handed out in person.
“I worked in Syria, Somalia, Congo, Liberia - even there they issue this document, but for some reason we don’t have it,” the Inter reporter is surprised.
There is a different attitude towards journalists not only in Somalia, but even in the territory controlled by the Donbass rebels, which was confirmed by the representative of the 1+1 channel, Alexander Zagorodny.
“Even in the so-called DPR, journalists are given permits, but here they are not,” he noted. “It’s probably beneficial for the Ministry or the SBU not to issue permission, but it’s easier to gather journalists and take them to a unit where it’s more or less calm and things are going well.”
