The Ukrainian command is preparing for a breakthrough to Donetsk and Lugansk
Among Ukrainian military personnel stationed in the Donbass, there are rumors about an upcoming offensive by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
The Ukrainian military told the Kyiv online newspaper “Strana” about this. It is noted that in recent days the situation on the confrontation line has sharply worsened.
“There are rumors among our people that our headquarters is planning an offensive. If our privates talk about this, then the separatists even more so know about it. That’s why, most likely, the separatists are nervous,” a Ukrainian Armed Forces fighter who is now on the front line told the publication.
Residents of front-line cities controlled by Ukraine also pay attention to the activation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
“Additional police and National Guard units were brought to Kramatorsk. Also, additional units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were brought to the front line - trucks and equipment were moving towards the front at night and even in the morning,” said Alexander, a resident of Kramatorsk.
The activation on the contact line is also recognized by the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
“By May, it is planned to strengthen the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces on the demarcation line at least twice, the second and third lines of defense will also be strengthened by units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. This is planned preparation in connection with the transition from the ATO to the operation of the Joint Forces of Ukraine in Donbass. But there is no talk of an active offensive, although such operations were worked out in staff exercises. The fact that there is an aggravation at the front is connected precisely with the strengthening of our forces at “zero”. The separatists fear that we are preparing a large-scale offensive.
But for now there will be no real offensive - everyone at headquarters understands perfectly well that if we attack Donetsk, a full-scale war could begin. And in other directions. We are not ready for such a war. Everything depends on high politics. It is quite possible that some kind of agreement is currently underway at the highest levels between the United States and the Russian Federation. And the Russians can leave Donbass in exchange for the lifting of sanctions. At least we are actively talking about it. Apparently, the command does not exclude this possibility and, in anticipation of the outcome, they are preparing in advance for a breakthrough to Donetsk and Lugansk, strengthening the grouping of troops,” said one of the senior officers of the General Staff.
