Ukrainian know-how: submarine tanks
At the training center of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, located in the village of Desna, Chernihiv region, during the exercises, military personnel tried to drive tanks along the bottom of a ditch with water, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was reported by the press service of the 169th training center of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Facebook.
“Following the overcoming of water obstacles by armored vehicles, another discipline was restored in the center - light diving training,” the message says.
For the exercise, a ditch 150 meters long and 20 meters wide was dug and filled with water. First, the servicemen go down a ladder with handrails to undergo diving training and try to walk underwater, and then they get into the tank and ride along the bottom of the ditch.
Such training, experts note, is not only useful, but also necessary. Indeed, in real combat conditions, anything can happen to a tank, for example, while overcoming a water obstacle, it can stall under water. And the crews must be both psychologically and physically prepared to be able to act in an emergency situation.
