Ukrainian radio: Poroshenko himself makes the loss of Crimea irrevocable
Statements by Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko about the need to make Crimea an unbearable burden for Russia further alienate the peninsula from Ukraine and make its loss irrevocable. Political scientist Andrei Ermolaev stated this on Radio Vesti, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to him, Ukraine should have learned lessons from previous blockades of Crimea, which did not lead to the results desired by Kyiv.

“The President, in essence, formulated an ultimatum on Crimea, that is, to create a situation in which Crimea will be unaffordable for Russia. But what does this mean in practice?
More than two million inhabitants of the peninsula, at what cost will this policy of returning Crimea be implemented? At the cost of worsening and complicating the lives of Crimeans? Well, in this way we will not only not return Crimea, but, rather, we will completely alienate people...
Even more so for the Ukrainian authorities, who are convinced that territories are not returned if people’s moods do not change, if people do not become bolder and do not take the initiative to restore the unity of Ukraine, then new ultimatums and a deterioration in the situation can make the loss of Crimea irrevocable,” – Ermolaev said.
