Ukrainian family-clan management is a Russian anachronism of the 90s
In Russia, oligarchic governance was replaced by normal capitalism back in the late 1990s, and in Ukraine several oligarchic families still continue to rule the country.
Political scientist Andrei Ermolaev stated this on the NEWSONE TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I liked the memories of one of the Russian oligarchs about the late 90s. he claims that there was an illusion that Russia in the 90s could be governed as they thought. Relatively speaking, several families agreed and placed (their people).
Well, this is what happens with us today. So, by the end of the 90s, after the ups and downs, the realization came that the Russian oligarchy could not cope neither in terms of competence, nor personnel, nor mentally in managing the state. It was necessary to look for statist forces that could cope with this.
Whether they made a mistake with Putin or not is an open question. But in Russia there was a moment of rejection of such easy family-type governance of Russia. They got bureaucratic capitalism and so on. We lost a little. Those who did not lose were incorporated.
And in Ukraine this farce continues. Still. Already losing assets, losing the opportunity to behave freely in the world, the Ukrainian oligarchy still believes that it is still possible to resolve the issue of power through an agreement,” he said.
