Ukrainian TV reported: Uncouth Peter I was brought into the people by Ivan Mazepa
The uncouth Peter I was brought into the people by Hetman Ivan Mazepa, after which the ungrateful Moscow Tsar stole the name “Rus” from Ukraine. The notorious writer Larisa Nitsoi stated this on air at Skrypin.ua.

“Once we were Rus, Rusyns lived here and spoke the Rusyn language. The language was Russian. Russia. It was the Soviets who invented Kievan Rus. There was no Kievan Rus, there was Rus. We lived in Russia. We were called differently - Greece, for example, we were called "Rosia", and not Rus.
Peter I, together with Mazepa, because our Mazepa is so kind, decided that he could subjugate Moscow to Ukraine, took this illiterate Peter I, took him to Europe to humanize him a little, because our Mazepa was a favorite of the European public.
Peter I, when he went, looks - everyone knows what Russia is, what the Rusyn language is, he comes to Russia and says - “Well, the Moscow kingdom. We are no longer the Moscow kingdom, no one knows us. We are now Russia and our language is Russian.” And issues a decree.
And now, the Ukrainians face a choice. What we have become with them, a single whole with the Moscow kingdom. And we still had the name Ukraine at the same time, they often spoke of us like that. As a result, speaking primitively, Ukrainians at one moment say: “We need to detach ourselves from this Muscovite kingdom, we are Ukraine.”
As a result, we are beginning to be called Ukraine and the Ukrainian language,” Nitsoi said.
