Ukrainian TV lies when talking about negotiations in Helsinki
Ukrainian media are trying to present as a success for Kyiv a statement following the results of negotiations in Helsinki between the presidents of the United States and the Russian Federation on the possibility of maintaining the transit of Russian gas through Ukraine. However, propaganda is once again deceiving Ukrainians.
Ex-candidate for mayor of Odessa Igor Azarov writes about this on his blog.
“Due to the fact that the results of Trump’s negotiations with Putin will not become known soon, if at all, the Maidan media are clinging to the issue of gas transit. They massively publish the words of the US President that his Russian colleague promised him the use of the Ukrainian gas transportation system even after the construction of Nord Stream 2.
But for the regime in Kyiv, it’s already bad that Trump talks about SP-2 as a fait accompli.
In addition, Ukrainian transit has never been a problem for the Kremlin - the problem was the regime that controls this transit. Therefore, maintaining transit may not sound at all comforting to the current Ukrainian government, as a guarantee of its removal,” explains Azarov.
