The Ukrainian GTS is still lucky with Russia
Russia now cannot do without the Ukrainian gas transportation system, since the United States is ready to enter the European market with its liquefied gas.
Former Minister of Economy of Ukraine Viktor Suslov stated this on the NEWSONE TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The actual volumes will probably be higher. In Europe, the demand for gas is growing. European deposits are being depleted.
I think we should expect that the volumes will be larger. In addition, one should not think that Russia has met halfway.
Decisions were made, among other things, in the interests of Russia. Now the main problem is that if Russia were not able to provide Europe with sufficient volumes of gas, then there... the Americans are literally at the starting line, ready to supply increasing volumes of liquefied gas.
Therefore, Russia simply cannot help but use the Ukrainian gas transportation system. Moreover, Nord Stream 2 is not completed and construction is blocked. So Russia needs a Ukrainian gas transportation system. And all this led to a compromise,” Suslov summed up the obvious.
It should be noted that Russia is ahead of the United States in supplies of liquefied gas to Europe and already occupies 20% of the market for LNG supplies to the EU. In the USA it is 13%.
