Ukrainian intelligence will be led by a person involved in a corruption scandal with his Russian wife
The first deputy heads of the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine (SVR) Sergey Semochko and Andrey Alekseenko are authorized to manage the service until the official appointment of a new head, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The SVR press service reported this today.
“We have two first deputies on our staff: Andrey Alekseenko and Sergey Semochko - they are authorized to act as chairman of the service under their supervision until the corresponding presidential decree on the appointment of the chairman of the SVR,” the UNIAN agency quotes the press service.
Let us remind you that yesterday President Petro Poroshenko dismissed the Chairman of the Foreign Intelligence Service Yegor Bozhko from his post. Bozhko was appointed head of the SVR in September 2017. Prior to this, since June 2015, he headed the Ukrainian mission to NATO.
At the beginning of October 2018, the investigative journalism project Bihus.Info published materials about the deputy head of the Foreign Intelligence Service Sergei Semochko, who until August 2018 headed the Main Directorate of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) for Kyiv and the Kyiv region. According to the investigation, Semochko is directly related to the intervention of the SBU in the process of public procurement of drugs for peritoneal dialysis. The actions of the SBU led to the suspension of purchases, and patients were left without the necessary medications. Suppliers of dialysis drugs estimate that the pause in supplies led to the death of two hundred people.
Journalists also discovered that members of the Semochko family owned three houses in the elite Koncha-Zaspe area near Kyiv worth several million dollars and other expensive property that the ex-SBU officer could not purchase with his salary. Besides, as PolitNavigator reported, According to journalistic investigation materials, Semochko’s wife and her children are holders of Russian passports and have repeatedly visited Crimea, where Semochko and her wife previously lived and worked.
