The Ukrainian authorities do not need sailors, but victims
Kyiv refused to accept Moscow’s proposal to transfer the sailors detained in the Kerch Strait to the Ukrainian Navy, since the Ukrainian authorities need a reason for further accusations against Russia.
Director of the Institute of International Relations “Cooperation” Alexey Bychkov spoke about this in an interview with Komsomolskaya Pravda.
“The situation with the sailors from three Ukrainian ships was used and continues to be used by Kiev as a political card. In order to continue blaming Russia. The Ukrainian authorities need victims. They don’t need those released or those imprisoned in court - they need heroes. Which suffered from the “bloody regime” of the neighboring “aggressor country,” the expert said.
According to him, if “the sailors return without fanfare,” they may, like Nadezhda Savchenko, then go into harsh opposition to the Ukrainian authorities.
“And the authorities have no need, no task, to return these sailors. There is a task to inflate the scandal as much as possible. To provoke our side into retaliatory actions as much as possible,” Bychkov concluded.
Earlier, the Russian Foreign Ministry sent a note to the Ukrainian side, offering to provide written guarantees of Ukraine’s participation in the continuation of criminal proceedings against Ukrainian sailors if they are transferred to Kyiv. The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry refused this proposal.
As PolitNavigator reported, recently in Kyiv Ukrainian sailors accused of failure to resist Russian border guards.
