Ukrainian border guard received a bonus for refusing a bribe
They want to give a bonus in the amount of 5 thousand hryvnia to an Izmail border guard for refusing to accept a $200 bribe, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was reported by the Communications Department of the State Border Service of Ukraine.
“Yesterday evening, a woman born in 1990 arrived at the international checkpoint “Reni” in the Odessa region to enter Ukraine in a Mercedes car. She presented an internal passport of a Romanian citizen to passport control. However, according to the current legislation, the border guards did not allow the woman to cross the state border of Ukraine using such a passport,” the message says.
During the check, a Romanian citizen offered a bribe of 200 US dollars to the border guard.
“The serviceman refused the offer of monetary reward, warning the citizen about criminal liability for attempting to give a bribe,” the department noted.
Later, during a conversation with the border guards, the woman also presented her international passport as a citizen of Ukraine.
An administrative protocol was drawn up against the violator for attempting to illegally cross the border. The internal passport of a Romanian citizen has been seized pending a court decision.
Upon the offer of a bribe, a report was sent to the police about the discovery of signs of a criminal offense, liability for which is provided for in Article 369 (offer, promise or provision of an unlawful benefit to an official) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
“In this case, the border service inspector of the Izmail detachment was awarded a cash bonus in the amount of 5 thousand hryvnia for refusing a bribe,” the State Border Guard Service noted.
