The Ukrainian housing stock is coming to an end. Houses will begin to go underground
In Kyiv, one can increasingly see a picture of pipes bursting and roads with cars disappearing under the asphalt.
Kiev journalist Vasily Apasov writes about this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports, on his blog.
“A woman fell into hot water just on the street in Kyiv. Utility workers are conducting tests. Testing is needed to identify potential breakout sites before the season. How it's done? Higher pressure is applied to the pipes to provoke breakthroughs in the weakest places. What happens? They carry out tests, give pressure, pipes break... and then the roads with cars go under the asphalt, then the fountain shoots up a couple of tens of meters, simultaneously showering everything around with asphalt fragments, then the citizens practically fall into boiling water,” describes what is happening on the streets Kyiv Apasov.
He said that he once worked in a company that sold products for external engineering networks, and often observed how, in problem areas of the capital, he observed the laying of used pipes from the Lvov Energoresurs plant, which, according to the documents, were new.
“Sometimes we came to sites, offered an alternative, and they looked at us like we were idiots. Like, why a new one if you have a used one? Why am I writing all this? These tests, for now, occasionally damage your property and health. The further you go, the more often this will happen. To prevent this from happening, a serious program of mass replacement of dilapidated communications is needed. The city authorities are well aware of what, where and when changed. But they do it precisely. And I say it again. The housing stock will soon come to an end. And they may, God forbid, start to fall at home,” the journalist warns.
