The Ukrainian army in the Kherson region bordering Crimea conducted exercises to capture a populated area and conduct street fighting.

“The artillery inflicted fire on a concentration of enemy equipment and personnel, with the help of tanks fortifications were destroyed, support force units ensured passage through minefields and carried out the task in the face of the enemy’s use of electronic warfare. And only then did the marines go on the offensive,” the Ukrainian military reports.
According to the commander of the marine brigade, Andrei Gnatov, the Ukrainian military wanted to practice combat in a populated area: “The subject of the exercises is very relevant and important today, because we mainly carry out tasks in urban areas. Therefore, the planning took into account the preservation of civilian lives and important infrastructure. Therefore, the commander and subordinate units had to act based on these conditions and effectively use the available weapons.”
