The Ukrainian delegation was fooled in PACE
The Ukrainian delegation was deceived in PACE by promising to set a number of conditions for Russia to return to the organization, but in fact accepting it without making demands on Moscow. The head of the Ukrainian delegation to PACE, Vladimir Ariev, stated this on the radio “Novoye Vremya”, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the parliamentarian, such conditions included the release of all Ukrainian militants detained and convicted in Russia, as well as the legalization of the extremist Majlis.
“We talked about the fact that these things should happen - not only the return of Ukrainian sailors, but the release of all Ukrainian political prisoners who are in prison in Russia, in the territory of annexed Crimea and in the territory of occupied Donbass. This was a principled position. As well as ensuring the rights of the Crimean Tatars, they must not be abandoned under any circumstances. These were the steps that should become a condition for the return of the Russian Federation. And we were actually fooled,” said Ariev.
