The leader of the group, Yuri Zhuravel, wrote about this on his Facebook page.
The musician said that the group was invited to Poland by the Ukrainian community of Przemysl for the Kupala holiday on July 2.
“But the mayor of the city, instantly reacting to the threats of local ultras to burn the stage, convincingly recommended that the festival organizers not invite the group “OT VINTA”. They say that the local police forces are not enough to ensure the safety of festival participants and there is no point in provoking the Poles. The Kupala holiday was cancelled,” writes Yuri Zhuravel..
According to him, after the incident, the Community of Solidarity with Ukraine decided to invite OT VINTA to Warsaw on one of the main stages of the city.
We set off. An official letter from the Lublin Consulate was supposed to help us cross the border quickly and easily. This is what happened on the Ukrainian side. But the Poles began to do something incomprehensible. After taking fingerprints and checking our documents, we were taken to a room with a cramped office, where there were already 7 people, and for 9 hours they called us one by one and filled out forms. Subsequently, they explained to us that an order had come from the Polish Ministry of Internal Affairs not to let us cross the border. In addition, there was a threat of deportation and cancellation of 5 annual Schengen visas. And now we are returning home,” laments the Ukrainian musician.
Later, information appeared that the reason for the refusal was the group’s creativity, in which a significant place was devoted to glorifying the “exploits” of Bandera’s followers.
