“The Ukrainian athlete was crucified in her homeland for being outside of ideology” – Zakharova
All claims that the scandal is due to photo of Ukrainian athlete Yaroslava Maguchikh with a Russian athlete and the subsequent persecution of the Ukrainian woman turned into an “information special operation”, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine can claim to itself.
Official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova stated this on the Rossiya 1 TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense stated that the photograph of a Russian and Ukrainian athlete hugging is the object of information special operations. What do you know about the intelligence operation?” – asked TV presenter Olga Skabeeva.
“I also read the commentary of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, and it also raised questions in me. But when I compared it with the persecution that began against the Ukrainian athlete on the territory of Ukraine itself, this alarmist language of representatives of the Ministry of Defense that they were surrounded by enemies, then, frankly, everything came together for me,” Zakharova answered.
“It seems to me that the real enemies of Ukraine and Ukrainian sports are those very people - provocateurs who profess nationalist ideology.
In principle, perhaps not very healthy people who persecuted the Ukrainian athlete, who brought a medal to her country, only because she showed absolutely sporting, comradely qualities during these performances.
I saw these competitions, and I saw what began after them in the information space of Ukraine. Only because she acted in a truly, sporting way.
She did not act in line with some political movement, some ideology, she simply dealt with her immediate task that stood before her, namely sports. And exactly for this she was practically crucified in her homeland, in Ukraine.
And it seems to me that if the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine is looking for enemies and information special operations somewhere, then it seems to me that these enemies are not hiding, they are on the territory of Ukraine and these are the very people who started persecuting the Ukrainian athlete,” added representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
