“Ukrainians in Crimea will always be in a pitiful situation, the Mejlis members will not return”
The Ukrainian authorities “wrote off” the Crimean Tatars without supporting their attempts to “Ukrainize” Crimea. Lviv TV presenter Ostap Drozdov said this on air at Skrypin.ua, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to him, Ukrainians in Crimea have always been in a pitiful position and would never have become the main ideology on the peninsula.

“I also had a lot of Crimean Tatars, this was mostly in Lviv, I invited them to the studio, and they talked about this pain, that they felt abandoned, they felt that Ukraine simply abandoned them there to the mercy of fate. It was the beginning of '14. And they were right, they have every reason to be offended by the mainland because we, in principle, wrote them off. This does not suit them, because they somehow had a hand in ensuring that Ukrainian things at least emerged there. It's just in a sorry state there and will never be mainstream, forget about it. Plus, my conversations with these people lead to the conclusion that they do not see themselves returning there,” Drozdov said.
