Ukraine has been driven to crazy impoverishment
Vladimir Groysman, Petro Poroshenko’s protege as Prime Minister of Ukraine, cannot boast of a single achievement as head of the Cabinet of Ministers. Economic Discussion Club expert Igor Garbaruk stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The economist noted that Groiman never reported to parliament, but he is promoting himself on television.
“The government report took place in a very behind-the-scenes format, on Freedom of Speech, on ICTV. I patiently listened to this stream of praise and pride for some incomprehensible achievements. It seems that people live in some kind of parallel reality and are not talking about the state of Ukraine. Let them go to the Maidan, to ordinary people, and report to them,” said Igor Garbaruk.
During Groysman’s premiership, utility bills increased significantly, the expert recalled.
“And we have already seen a lot of “achievements.” The growth of bills - bills of 5 thousand hryvnia will no longer surprise anyone. We have reached the point that the population of Ukraine “owes” government agencies 40 billion (think about it!) hryvnia for utility bills. The country has been driven to crazy poverty,” says the expert.
The health care system has collapsed.
“Even according to the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, the country is in second place in Europe in terms of the rate of spread of cancer pathologies. Cardiovascular diseases are in first place among the causes of mortality in the population. The country has really been brought to the brink,” says Igor Garbaruk.
Citizens' incomes do not keep pace with rising prices and inflation.
“The government’s achievements are simple, they are based on real inflation, and not the one that the State Statistics Service depicts for us. And in the food prices we have today.
Let me remind you that the government projected 8,1% inflation for last year. Then the State Statistics Service showed 13,7%, but in reality it is several times higher.
This year we are promised 7% inflation. At the same time, the increase in prices for eggs is 145%, for lard – 76%, pork – 69%, beef – 49%, chicken – 42%. We understand that even the official inflation from March 2016 to March 2018 at 26,6% does not correspond to reality,” says the expert.
