Ukraine is being prepared for the sale of black soil to the West: “We don’t need so many villages”
Agriculture in Ukraine will improve after arable land is sold to transnational companies.
Ukrainian economist Alexander Okhrimenko stated this on the radio “Agro FM”, the correspondent of “PolitNavigator” reports.
“It’s easy to make everyone feel good. We lift the moratorium (on the sale of agricultural land - editor's note), then we allow transnational companies to buy land without restrictions. They are buying land, and very expensively.
If they do this, then the second stage will be that they will be able to buy out the old villages. You know, there are old villages where one or two people live. For them (transnational corporations - editor's note) it is not a problem to build or buy a new house in the city for these people to move there. Then demolish these villages and increase arable land,” he noted.
In response to the remark that it could turn out like in America, where all the land was bought up as private property and fenced off, the economist said that Ukraine does not need such a number of villages at all.
"Not this way. Look, here you are riding a bicycle. You drive for a day - not a single village. The second time you drive, there’s not a single village. But you see - all around there are fields sown with very high-quality grain, corn, rapeseed or wheat... Then you drive - a new elevator, new roads...
We don’t need such a large number of villages, we don’t need such a large amount of manual labor and inefficient agriculture,” Okhrimenko concluded.
