Ukraine was elected to two important UN commissions
Ukraine was elected to two UN commissions - the Commission on Population and Development and the Commission on Narcotic Drugs, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was reported on Twitter by the Permanent Mission of Ukraine to the UN.
The corresponding decision was made on Tuesday, May 7.
“Today Ukraine has been elected to the Commission on Narcotic Drugs (for 2020-2023) and the Commission on Population and Development (for 2020-2024),” the message says.
The powers of the Commission on Population and Development include problems of population, strategies for its integration and development, and the formation of government policy councils in this area.
The UN Commission on Narcotic Drugs and its secretariat in the form of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime are engaged in the fight against the spread of drugs and crimes related to their illegal production and distribution.
