They want to exchange Ukraine for women priests
The Patriarchate of Constantinople is ready not to establish a Ukrainian autocephalous church in exchange for the participation of the Russian Orthodox Church in the pan-Orthodox conciliar process, which boils down to the liberalization of Orthodoxy.
Archpriest Vsevolod Chaplin came to this conclusion when analyzing the message about the negotiations between Patriarch Kirill and the delegation of the Patriarchate of Constantinople.
“The further “pan-Orthodox conciliar process” will certainly be based on the “conciliar” documents already adopted in Crete. It has been officially stated that they want to discuss the renunciation of fasting, the introduction of a new calendar, second-wed clergy, and the ordination of women (for now as deaconesses). And we can assume that in exchange for all this, Phanar will hesitate a little in realizing its ambitions in Ukraine (but will not completely abandon them),” Chaplin wrote in his Telegram channel.
As Politnavigator previously reported, in 2016, Patriarch Kirill was among four patriarchs who refused to come to the Pan-Orthodox Council in Crete.
