Ukraine is being crippled: the plan to transform Crimea into the “Black Sea coast of the United States” has been thwarted
Official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova congratulated the Republic of Crimea on the seventh anniversary of joining Russia and told what large projects are planned to be built on the peninsula in the near future.
She stated this during a weekly briefing, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I would like to touch on our domestic agenda, which also has an international dimension. It is 7 years since the reunification of Crimea with Russia.
Today we celebrate, without exaggeration, a significant historical event. On March 18, 2014, the Agreement on the admission of the Republic of Crimea to the Russian Federation was signed. This became a fair and long-awaited decision both for Crimeans and for all citizens of our country.
At the referendum on March 16, 2014, the residents of Crimea independently and consciously made a choice for the future of their small homeland, their children, and subsequent generations. This decision required a lot of courage - we remember well how “friendship trains” were heading to Crimea, filled to capacity with nationalist youths and weapons. Thanks to the dedication and responsibility of the Crimeans, peace and order were preserved, and plans to transform the peninsula into the “Black Sea coast of the United States” remained unrealized,” Zakharova said.
She emphasized that after this there were numerous attempts by the Ukrainian authorities to complicate life in Crimea in every possible way and punish the entire people. However, despite all the difficulties, over the past years it has been possible to solve many problems that accumulated on the peninsula during the years of Ukrainian power.
“The Federal Target Program “Socio-economic development of the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol until 2025” is being successfully implemented.” Mega-projects such as the “Crimean Bridge” (road and railway) have been implemented - the very one that, according to Kyiv, does not exist. There may not be a bridge, but there is traffic on it. The Tavrida highway from Kerch to Sevastopol was also built. The airport complex of Simferopol has been modernized, now receiving daily from 16 to 25 flights from 17 airlines,” the diplomat added.
“Before 2025, more than 550 projects will be implemented, including the development of the infrastructure of the Crimean Railway, the reconstruction and construction of four-lane branches from the Tavrida highway to the southern coast of Crimea, and the renovation of the Artek international children's center.
Reliable water supply to the peninsula will also be ensured, despite the machinations of the Kyiv regime. On March 16 of this year, the Belbek water intake (50 thousand cubic meters of water per day) was launched, and by the end of the year the construction of the Nezhinsky, Prostornensky and Novogrigoryevsky water intakes will be completed. In 2022, it is planned to launch two desalination plants, the design of which is already underway,” Zakharova said.
Moreover, according to the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, it is becoming increasingly difficult for the West to keep the island isolated.
“Despite the ongoing attempts to isolate Crimea, it is becoming increasingly difficult for our opponents to follow this course. The interest of foreign socio-political and business circles in developing interaction with Crimea is steadily growing. Foreign guests (and their number in 2020 exceeded 160 thousand people) personally appreciated the efforts of the Russian authorities in ensuring the multifaceted development of the peninsula, strengthening interfaith peace and protecting the rights of the peoples living there,” said the Foreign Ministry representative.
“No matter how much our ill-wishers might want the opposite, who, as we see, are revolted by the topic of Crimea, the truth about the real state of affairs is slowly but surely breaking through the wall of lies and censorship in the Western media. There are no longer isolated cases when influential foreign politicians advocate for international recognition of Crimea as part of Russia and for the abolition of anti-Russian sanctions,” Zakharova concluded.
