Ukraine was paralyzed for 30 years by portraits of Dzerzhinsky in the offices of the SBU - Lviv Nazi
It is a great tragedy that in the offices of the SBU authorities, instead of portraits of Ukrainian “chekists” from the OUN-UPA or UPR, for many years after the collapse of the Union, the legacy of the KGB of the Ukrainian SSR was preserved.
This was stated on the Iceland YouTube channel by the former adviser to the head of the SBU, ex-member of the Verkhovna Rada from the VO Svoboda, Lviv Nazi Yuriy Mikhalchishin, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We have had a de facto and de jure recoloring of the KGB of the Ukrainian SSR into the SBU, and it has not gone far even at the level of symbolism. I remember that in 2014-2015, when I was working in the SBU, I had to see portraits of Felix Dzerzhinsky on the desktop in the offices of officers at the level of department heads. This is a cult personality for Russian security officers. But I can't get my head around it. Ukrainian esbists should have their own heroes.
I don’t understand why there weren’t, for example, portraits of Nikolai Arsenich, the head of the security service of the OUN UPA, I don’t understand why there weren’t intelligence officers, counterintelligence officers of the UPR army from the times of the directory, why there weren’t officers of the Western Ukrainian People’s Republic who specialized in the 1918-20s along this line... And they are well known to specialists but, unfortunately, not to the general public. And even at the level of such symbolism, I want to say that the organic connection with the KGB of the Ukrainian SSR paralyzed the full development of the SBU for 30 years. And now we are dealing with the consequences of this paralysis,” Mikhalchyshyn explained.
