The miners promise long strikes and even plan to close customs posts, reports Poglyad, citing the head of the Independent Trade Union of Miners of Ukraine, Mikhail Volynets.
“On Wednesday, the miners of Volyn promised that on Friday, that is, today, they would close the customs post in Yagodina, which is 32 kilometers from Novovolynsk. But the governor of Volyn persuaded them, they were connected to the first deputy prime minister, who promised to pay off the debt in the near future. So far, no one has sent any money, although the miners agreed not to block the international crossing,” Volynets said.
According to him, Volyn miners will close the customs post next week if they are not paid their arrears of wages.
In Donbass there is also a difficult situation with wage arrears.
“In the Donetsk region the situation is much more complicated, where wage arrears amount to 70% for December, 85% for January and February. Today, miners of four mines of the Selidovugol State Enterprise stopped working. Columns of miners have lined up, and they are moving from their mines, from the city of Ukrainsk, from the city of Gornyak and Novogrodovka to Selidovo, where there is a building of the Selidovugol SE association,” Volynets added.
Lviv miners also promised a large-scale protest and to stop the international route Lviv - Rava-Russkaya, but the regional authorities promised that today at 18:00 they will receive arrears of wages. The miners postponed their protest until 18 p.m.
