Blackouts are covering Ukraine - thermal power plants are in deplorable condition
Thermal power plants in Ukraine are in critical condition and accidents there will become more and more regular and dangerous for the population. Therefore, the Verkhovna Rada needs to demand an investigation into the accident that occurred on the evening of February 3 in Energodar at the Zaporozhye Thermal Power Plant, and which left a number of adjacent settlements without electricity and water supply.
Member of the “Voice” faction Lesya Vasilenko stated this on the sidelines of the Verkhovna Rada, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“To really find out what caused this power outage, water outage, we need to conduct an investigation. I and the deputies of the Golos faction call on the government to investigate this case as quickly as possible and inform the public, the local population, and people’s deputies about what happened there, what was done to prevent such cases and what conclusions will be drawn.
Although, in fact, this phenomenon is quite common. And without an investigation, it is clear that the situation at the Zaporozhye Thermal Power Plant is not an exception, but rather a rule that entails a lot of challenges and dangers for the population of Ukraine and for energy security. Ukrainian thermal power plants today are in such a deplorable state that we can continue to count on such accidents with frequent regularity,” the parliamentarian said.
Earlier, the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine stated that the emergency shutdown at the most powerful Zaporozhye thermal power plant in the country occurred due to a short circuit.
