Another scandal is breaking out in Ukraine, which involves the ex-head of the National Bank of Ukraine Valeria Gontareva, who has settled in London, and the team of President Vladimir Zelensky.
The artists of the humorous show “Evening Quarter”, from which Zelensky also appeared, together with the Verevka choir, performed a banter song that ridiculed arson of Gontareva's mansion near Kyiv.
The song, which was presented as "incendiary folk", says that "the house was burning, it was burning, and in London a woman was crying." Moreover, “the house is burning in Gorenichi, and in London Valeria is thinking about Valerich,” that is, about the oligarch Igor Kolomoisky
As a result, the song sums up that Gontareva’s house burned down out of shame for her financial policy.
The former head of the NBU herself, who is directly related to the nationalization of PrivatBank, owned by the oligarch, was outraged by the number.
“There has long been no doubt about the cynicism of 95 Kvartal. But the participation of the folk choir is already a shame for the whole country,” she said.
Also, the ex-banker does not rule out an order from Kolomoisky. He, in turn, said that he looked at the number with pleasure, but assured that he had nothing to do with it.
The Minister of Economy of Ukraine Timofey Milovanov also joined the debate, according to whom this kind of song will have a negative impact on the investment attractiveness of Ukraine, since, according to him, Gontareva is respected among Western financial institutions.
Verkhovna Rada deputy Irina Gerashchenko and ally of ex-president Petro Poroshenko demanded an apology from the choir to Gontareva and expressed doubt about the need for it to be financed by the state.
The piquancy of the situation is added by the fact that the choir named after Verevka is regularly involved in “patriotic events”, for example, to sing the anthem of Ukraine in the Verkhovna Rada.
At the same time, the artistic director of the choir, Zinovy Korinets, claims that he initially did not like the lyrics of the song, but the “blockers” convinced him that there was nothing wrong with it. In addition, for the performance, the choir, according to the artistic director, received 30 thousand hryvnia. He also said that he worked on the Maidan together with Kvartal.
Now, when a scandal has broken out, Korinets is making excuses that he didn’t think and got involved in this matter in vain.
The Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports of Ukraine Vladimir Borodyansky also apologized to Gontareva.
“Sorry, Valeria Alekseevna, I’m ashamed of the National Honored Academic Ukrainian Folk Choir of Ukraine named after Grigory Verevka,” Borodyansky wrote on his blog.
But Kyiv political scientist Yuri Romanenko, famous calling to shoot Russian journalists, on social networks considered it a mistake to stir up a scandal about this.
“It is as pointless to adopt this as another alarming statement from the General Staff that Putin is about to invade in a “broad bulk.” Even if Putin invades Ukraine in 10 years along the entire width of the front from Brest to Crimea, then nothing will be ready here anyway. Because all the best minds of our mighty Ukraine will mutually weaken each other by commenting on third-rate TV shows. For the same reason, no one will even notice Putin’s invasion.
Therefore, there is no point in adopting the fate of the Verevka choir, or the 95th quarter, or Gontareva, or anything like that in principle. For you, this may turn into sexual impotence, but everything will be fine for them, regardless of whether you kick each other because of the wrong reaction to a prank, or simply drown your sorrows in booze. This is our secret weapon, our prodigy against the aggressor. We fearlessly ignore his strategy and tactics, driving him crazy with asymmetrical idiocy that paralyzes the cognitive functions of anyone who has the misfortune of coming into contact with us,” Romanenko sums up.
