Ukraine found itself in a stupid position when it insisted that the first committee of the UN General Assembly take a vote on the Russian draft resolution on advances in informatization and telecommunications. Official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova told reporters about this today.

“In recent years, the project has been adopted without a vote with the approval of all participants. This year Ukraine decided to distinguish itself. As a result, 177 states supported him, none against him. Ukraine, which insisted on voting, abstained. Our employees who were in the hall said that they had not heard such laughter for a long time. This speaks to the level of work in Kyiv,” Zakharova said.
She suggested that Ukrainian diplomats acted on orders from the United States.
“The main idea of the document is the development of norms, principles and rules for responsible behavior of the state in the information space in the context of international security. But we are always caught in cyberattacks. Maybe the United States was behind Ukraine’s initiative, and Ukraine was shown in an anecdotal light,” Zakharova said.
According to her, the number of Russian co-authors in work on the draft resolution this year decreased from 84 to 80. The United States and three other states under American influence refused.
