Ukraine will be placed under strict total quarantine immediately after local elections
The measures taken by the Ukrainian authorities to combat the coronavirus pandemic turned out to be ineffective, there was no decline in the incidence rate, and after the local elections the authorities will again be forced to introduce a quarantine, stricter than the one in the spring.
The head of the National Medical Chamber of Ukraine, Sergei Kravchenko, stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“There has not been, nor can there be, any adaptive quarantine on the territory of Ukraine for one simple reason - adaptive quarantine is the identification of suspicious cases, localization, diagnosis and transfer to doctors. During localization, an epidemiological investigation is carried out, but we do not have an approved procedure for such an investigation. This should be done by epidemiologists. There are only 500 of them left in our country. There is no one to work in the outbreaks.
Regarding collective immunity, everything is heading towards the fact that there will be no formation of collective immunity. Those who have been ill do not have it. This suggests that the vaccine, if developed, will have no effect. It will not save us from coronavirus. Still, there is hope that it will weaken somewhat after two years of circulation and become seasonal.
As for what will happen in Ukraine, there is already a decision that 10-15 days after the local elections, quarantine will be introduced. This is the only tool in the arsenal of healthcare workers to counter the spread of disease. There is nothing left in the doctors' arsenal. The national health care system is being completely destroyed, the epidemiological service has already been destroyed. The authorities understand that they cannot apply the state of emergency, that they cannot postpone the elections - in the spring the rating of the ruling party will be zero,” predicts Sergei Kravchenko.
He noted that there was no decline in the pandemic, its dynamics are growing.
“For eight months, the intensity of three main indicators has been increasing - the intensity of the spread of the disease, morbidity and mortality. We didn’t have any “plateaus,” “waves,” or “declines.” If in the spring we started with an average mortality rate of 15 deaths per week, now we have already reached the milestone of 25. and our dynamics are growing every day,” summed up Sergei Kravchenko.
