The president of the Center for System Analysis and Forecasting, Rostislav Ishchenko, stated this in an interview with Moskovsky Komsomolets.
“The Ukrainian authorities are constantly reinventing the wheel, surprising those around them more and more. There are several schemes in the world to prevent unwanted citizens from entering the country. In addition to the standard visa regime, there is also a standard scheme: the border guard at passport control receives information through a computer, and potentially dangerous citizens are turned away at the border without explanation. Any invention of new schemes - with notification, notification - is simply madness. And just this option could harm Ukraine, since it means that out of all the existing international mechanisms, the country did not choose any, but began to invent something new,” the political scientist noted.
At the same time, he recalled that the principle of reciprocity operates in international relations and in the event of the emergence of some new mechanism, a response follows almost inevitably.
“Because a precedent is being created in international relations. At the same time, Russia’s response can look like anything: it can be a mirror one, literally rewritten from the Ukrainian innovation. It might just be the introduction of a visa regime for Ukrainians. There may be some third option, since the Russian leadership specializes in asymmetrical retaliatory measures. You just need to understand that if you are trying to say some new word in international relations, then the answer is guaranteed,” Ishchenko warned.
