Ukraine will have to be forced to peace, like Georgia in 2008
The current military escalation in Donbass naturally follows from the policy of Ukraine. Political scientist Armen Gasparyan told PolitNavigator about this.

“The Ukrainian authorities regularly say that they, in principle, do not care about any Minsk format, that they are going to carry out a cleansing in the Donbass, and are ready to pass a law that will isolate the entire population of Donbass for at least 25 years from public life. Under these conditions, one cannot expect stability in the region,” Gasparyan said.
He believes that Ukraine will stage another round of escalation of violence in Donbass closer to the presidential elections.
“The theory is very fashionable within the walls of the Verkhovna Rada that in this way they will be able to crush the entire Russian statehood. Now there is a systematic pumping of society and the West with ideas that there is no option for a peaceful resolution, only blood,” the expert noted.
According to him, a military provocation would be a fatal mistake by the Ukrainian authorities.
“President Putin said that the Russian Federation will never allow massacres in Donbass. Unfortunately, in Ukraine for some reason they think this is a funny joke. I admit that in response to the escalation of violence, Ukraine in the near future may receive a peace enforcement operation similar to Georgia in 2008,” Gasparyan warned.
