In Ukraine now the situation is like in Latin America - corruption scandals, crises, economic turmoil and a new class of super-rich people.
Director of the Center for Applied Research Yuri Shchedrin stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“An interesting historical analogy emerges - our situation is quite similar to the situation in Latin America, where economic crises occur very often, there are a lot of corruption scandals, in particular, the presidents of Argentina and Brazil are sent to prison, etc.
These countries are also very dependent on foreign partners, and our situation is very similar. Our situation is like in Argentina. Argentina is also experiencing a number of acute economic and political crises, especially acute ones - in parallel with ours - occurred in 1998 - 2002, and as a result of this there was a fairly serious economic shock. 50% of Argentines became poor, 25% became poor, while a new class of super-rich people emerged in the country. These were agricultural barons exporting products and investment bankers.
If we look at our situation, we can see something very similar. And they had exactly the same political situation, if we go back to the ratings. There were a lot - up to 10 candidates, and according to the polls, none of them had 10%, just like ours,” Shchedrin said.
