Ukraine faces a new conflict between the president and the prime minister
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky and his nominated Prime Minister Alexey Goncharuk will inevitably come into conflict as the head of government becomes more independent over the next year.
Ukrainian political scientist and sociologist Viktor Nebozhenko said this on the YouTube channel “Ukrlife.TV”, the correspondent of “PolitNavigator” reports.
“Zelensky deliberately appointed Goncharuk as prime minister, knowing the fundamental problem of Ukrainian history – a conflict in a year between any prime minister and any president. How lucky Poroshenko was in life, how experienced, he deceived the whole country, chose an innocent top manager of the Vinnitsa bazaars, and a year later he felt like a man, then a reformer, then spoke in English and Ukrainian with the IMF, and one fine day began to argue with the president.
The conflict between Zelensky and Goncharuk will be exactly the same. First by height. It will be unpleasant for Zelensky to stand with Goncharuk, who continues to grow, and Zelensky’s growth ended as soon as he became president. His mood will deteriorate,” the political scientist explained.
At the same time, according to the expert, the split in the Ukrainian government will be facilitated by the heterogeneity of the Cabinet of Ministers, where three groups of influence already exist separately.
“No one felt how the Cabinet of Ministers was decomposing and smelling in a special way. There is a triarchy there. There is Goncharuk, who, as it were, heads the Cabinet of Ministers, the front office. Then there is a person who manages the money - Markarova. And the person who controls power and authority is Avakov. I don’t know what kind of Cabinet this is, there are three Cabinets. And if Zelensky thinks that this is great, then all the same, in the conditions of personalization of power, the sin will fall on him, and not on Goncharuk, who tomorrow will say: “That’s it, I’m tired, Stanford is offering me a pension, and I’m going to write reforms”...
This is Zelensky’s big mistake - through Arakhamia and through the majority, he transfers part of his power to people whom he does not count on to get results,” Nebozhenko concluded.
