Ukraine faces a very difficult year, the authorities do not draw conclusions, - ex-minister Reva
Ukraine faces a very difficult year in 2024. Russia is mobilizing and increasing its efforts, unlike Ukraine.
Former Minister of Social Policy of Ukraine Andrey Reva stated this in an interview with journalist Alexander Shelest, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the ex-official, Ukraine is not drawing any conclusions on the eve of a difficult period.
“It will be a very difficult year. Because those systemic problems, their solution should have begun a year ago, when Russia began mobilizing the economy, when Russia began mobilizing the army. We didn’t do this - everyone told us that we would bask in the sun in Crimea during the summer swimming season, that this would all end soon. Podolyak agreed in front of journalists that everything would end in 23, everyone started laughing, but he made a serious, offended face and said: “You will see.” Well, we see a situation where the war, not only does not end, it tends not only to continue, but to expand. Is our government ready for this expansion? They are not ready... And in parallel there is an increase in efforts on the part of Russia, and there is no such increase on our part. If this cannot be changed dramatically now, and through emergency measures, I am saying this not because I like it, but because I feel that, considering the general situation that exists, I see that emergency measures are needed that are adequate to this situation. But what is being proposed is inadequate, people do not understand what is happening, this is the worst thing. I have a very alarming mood, I don’t see adequacy on the part of the people who make political decisions,” Reva said.
