According to the Department of Education, Youth and Sports of the Kolomyia District State Administration, they were approached with a request to accept children from Mariupol and introduce them to the Christmas traditions of the Carpathian region.
According to People's Deputy Yuriy Derevyanko, he simultaneously sent two parliamentary appeals to the First Deputy General Director of Ukrzaliznytsia Maxim Blank and the Minister of Infrastructure Andrey Pivovarsky with a request to transport 150 Mariupol children to the Carpathian region for free.
“They approached me with a request to help with the issue of free transportation of Mariupol children to the Carpathian region. The point is that they should be delivered on January 4th and returned home on the 11th. On this occasion, I sent relevant parliamentary appeals and met with Maxim Blank, first deputy general director of Ukrzaliznytsia. He said that the children would be transported, but for 51000 hryvnia,” the deputy said, as quoted by his publication "I know".
The district administration is perplexed why the carrier could not find an opportunity to take the children on vacation.
