The street bends Zelensky
A large number of seats in the Verkhovna Rada, which guarantee high ratings for the Servant of the People party, can play a cruel joke on the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky.
Experts came to this opinion on the air of the TV Center channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Thus, former Verkhovna Rada deputy from the Communist Party Spiridon Kilinkarov noted that Zelensky, having a huge rating, is pushing certain political forces outside the parliament that will not go anywhere from Ukraine.
“If someone thinks that by pushing someone out of parliament, we will solve this problem, I think exactly the opposite. This problem may worsen even further; it will go out onto the streets, where the current government, at least for today, does not demonstrate the ability to control the street. That is, the street turns out to be much stronger,” Kilinkarov said.
Historian and political scientist Vladimir Kornilov agreed with him, recalling that the founder of the neo-Nazi Azov regiment Andrei Biletsky delivered an ultimatum to Zelensky, demanding the cancellation of the planned teleconference with Russia.
“This is about the question of who controls the street there, who controls the authorities there, when they tell us: “Why are there radicals, 2-3 percent, don’t pay attention to them.” And the president, as you see, pays attention and obeys their ultimatums,” Kornilov said.
He believes that such a position will take away a significant part of Zelensky’s electorate, especially the part that advocates dialogue with Russia – more than 70 percent, according to opinion polls.
“Dialogue has to start somewhere! When they offer such a harmless idea of a format for communication between ordinary people, not politicians, with each other, how can you oppose it, much less see it as high treason? At the same time, there are direct threats to journalists and the TV channel, and has someone opened a criminal case on the fact of threats to journalists?
And on the same day, the entire leadership of the EU is in Kyiv, have you heard at least one statement, at least one hint from these same EU leaders regarding this lawlessness? At least regarding threats against journalists. At the same time, Tusk speaks and says that look, Sentsov is sitting there somewhere - you are in Kyiv, at least rein in these militants there!” – added Kornilov.
