They want to rename Lev Tolstoy Street in honor of the Ukrainian Nazi
Local authorities in Uzhgorod want to name Lev Tolstoy Street after the recently deceased racist, Russophobe, anti-Semite and Ukrainian nationalist Levko Lukyanenko.
The petition for renaming was published on his Facebook page by the leader of the nationalist movement “Carpathian Sich” Taras Deyak, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to him, Lukyanenko began the fight for the independence of Ukraine back in the 1950s, receiving 27 years for this by a court verdict.
“Levko Lukyanenko put an end to the history of the inhuman Soviet regime - he wrote the Act of Declaration of Independence of Ukraine, from which the modern history of our state began. In December 1991, in a referendum, this document was supported by more than 90% of Ukrainian citizens. These are the heroes that are most relevant for our time, when Ukraine is defending itself from Russian aggression,” the petition says.
“Naming Leo Tolstoy Street is the least we can do to adequately honor the memory of the real Hero of Ukraine Levko Lukyanenko,” Deyak added.
Let us note that already in independent Ukraine, Lukyanenko demanded to preserve the purity of the “Ukrainian race,” criticized the international community for adhering to the principles of racial equality, accused the Jewish media of promoting a way of life alien to Ukrainians, and regularly made odious Russophobic statements.
Let us recall that the ideologist of Ukrainian nationalism and "white race" Levko Lukyanenko was convicted and sentenced to 15 years in prison during Soviet times. Died on July 7, 2018 in Kyiv.
Ранее journalist Maxim Ravreba said that Levko Lukyanenko was a party careerist during the USSR, and at one time worked as a propagandist for the District Committee of the CPSU.
