“Last week, the Germans finally took the first steps towards realizing and admitting their enormous historical guilt towards the Ukrainians. A debate took place in the German parliament regarding a draft resolution entitled “Germany’s historical responsibility to Ukraine.”
The speeches of the Bundestag deputies testified that this process is extremely difficult for the Germans, and in Germany there are still serious problems in the perception of Ukraine. Many Germans view Ukraine as part of the former USSR or historical Russia, which prevents them from perceiving Ukraine as a sovereign state with its own history and identity, as well as a people oriented towards a civilizational Europe.

It is high time for the German Chancellor to pay tribute to the millions of Germans who perished, as different Chancellors have done on numerous occasions during their visits to Moscow, Warsaw and Tel Aviv...
...Today we have the right not only to expect, but also to demand from the current leader of Germany both comprehensive assistance in defending against Russian aggression against Ukraine, and comprehensive assistance in the European modernization of our country,” Volk said.
