Yatsenyuk will take a trillion from the population to reduce dependence on Russian gas
Kyiv, December 17 (PolitNavigator, Alexander Semenyuta) – The increasing cost of energy resources is forcing the Ukrainian authorities to look for ways to reduce fuel consumption, one of which is insulating residential buildings. According to government officials, an exorbitant amount of a trillion hryvnia is currently needed to modernize the country’s entire housing stock. The costs, as usual, must be borne by the public.

According to estimates by the Ministry of Regional Development, Construction and Housing and Communal Services and the State Energy Efficiency), the cost of thermal modernization of the housing stock of Ukraine, designed to bring it into line with European standards, was estimated at 500 billion UAH at an exchange rate of 8 UAH/1 dollar. Today, this figure is doubled more.
The only source of raising such a volume of funds today is the population.
“The state does not have such funds; investors who come to Ukraine do not have such funds. The only mechanism is to attract such funds from the population. The population is the best investor,” officials say.
For comparison: The revenue portion of the country’s main financial document for the next year is planned to be within 530 billion hryvnia. Thus, only 2 annual budgets of Ukraine need to be spent on modernizing the housing stock.
