One of the founders of the Popular Front “Sevastopol-Crimea-Russia” has died
Yesterday in Simferopol, one of the founders of the Popular Front “Sevastopol-Crimea-Russia”, Crimean journalist Svyatoslav Kompaniets, died suddenly.
Kompaniets was one of the fighters for the return of Crimea to Russia during the period it was part of Ukraine. In 2005, he, together with Alexander Kruglov, Valery Podyachim, Anatoly Los and Yuri Bastrikov, founded the Sevastopol-Crimea-Russia Popular Front.
“The People's Front “Sevastopol-Crimea-Russia” is the only organization whose members were not afraid to openly challenge the Ukrainian occupation regime and, until the appearance of “polite people”, fought for the return of the peninsula to the jurisdiction of the Russian Federation and the restoration of historical justice. Long before the Crimean Spring,” said Kompaniets’ ally Anatoly Los, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
During the Ukrainian period, members of the movement, among whom was Kompaniets, were subjected to political repression by the SBU and the Ukrainian authorities.
On August 15, Svyatoslav Kompaniets turned 58 years old. His materials and current comments on Crimean topics have been repeatedly published in PolitNavigator
