Writer Eduard Limonov, who dreamed of returning Kharkov to Russia, has died
Writer Eduard Limonov died at the age of 77. This was reported by State Duma deputy Sergei Shargunov.
“20 years ago, his people raised the Russian flag over Sevastopol. He left a few hours before the anniversary of the return of Crimea to Russia. This is all Eduard Limonov. Kingdom of Heaven,” commented State Duma deputy Natalya Poklonskaya.
“We knew each other for many years, I rescued him from prison. But now, Edward left... No one expected this. And this is a great loss for Russian culture, for all of us,” notes LDPR leader Vladimir Zhirinovsky.
“His words, as a rule, did not diverge from his deeds. He fought in Yugoslavia, Abkhazia, Transnistria. The National Bolsheviks he raised fought in the Donbass (I know for sure about the LPR).
Limonov was imprisoned for his beliefs. It is very difficult to be in prison, but not for criminal offenses that you did not commit, but simply because you think differently. I myself was in a Ukrainian prison for my beliefs and I know what it’s like.
His dream was the return of Kharkov, the city home to both of us, to Russia. We met several years ago, when there was still a belief that the Minsk agreements were about to be canceled and the hot phase would resume. We made plans for the future. Alas,” writes ex-speaker of the DPR Foreign Ministry Konstantin Dolgov.
