“US Ambassador John Tefft died suddenly. Knew him well. More on the Ukrainian period. It's a pity. Rest in peace. Any sudden death in the Russian Federation is suspicious, but here everything is doubly suspicious,” he wrote.
Tefft worked as ambassador to Ukraine until the end of July 2013, actively providing support, in particular, to the Ukrayinska Pravda resource, whose journalist Mustafa Nayem was the formal instigator of Euromaidan in the fall of that year.
From 2005 to 2009, Tefft served as US Ambassador to Georgia. During this period, the 2008 war in the Caucasus occurred, when the regime of Mikheil Saakashvili tried to attack South Ossetia, and Russia carried out an operation to force Georgia to peace.
