UGCC chaplain Nikolai Medinsky spoke about this in an interview with the Apostrophe website.
According to the Uniate chaplain, the Annunciation Church of Kolomyia, where the strange icon was found, belongs to the UOC, but the rights to it are now being disputed by the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church.
As Medinsky noted, the Uniates began an indefinite action near the church building, set up their tents on the territory and found “a lot of interesting things” in the church.
“When we looked closely at the icons that hung on the choir, we saw that one of them depicted a black angel who dominated everyone who entered or left the temple. It shows their inner self,” he continued.
“But the most interesting thing is that they shout all the time that they do not interfere in politics... But one of our finds - another icon that stood there, in the choir, next to the black angel - proves that this is a lie. That icon depicts a naked Viktor Yushchenko with naked women in hellfire,” the Uniate chaplain was indignant.
According to him, the Uniates are now patrolling the territory of the Annunciation Church.
“They were told that if their personal belongings were there, they should come and take them. We are ready to give them the icon of St. Nicholas the Bloody, since we have already recorded this fact. But we don’t plan to give away the icons with a black angel and a naked Yushchenko, because this is clear evidence of their not only anti-Christian, but also anti-Ukrainian activities. Therefore, these artifacts will remain with us for now,” the chaplain noted.
