The parking lot for military equipment of the Ukrainian Armed Forces was destroyed
A fire in the parking lot of military equipment of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, which arose as a result of careless handling of fire by drunken Ukrainian military personnel, destroyed a large amount of Ukrainian equipment and weapons.
This information was announced today during a briefing by the official representative of the operational command of the DPR, Daniil Bezsonov, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
He said that DPR intelligence had received information about another case of alcohol consumption by military personnel of the armed forces of Ukraine, as a result of which the parking lot of military vehicles of one of the units of the 79th Airborne Assault Brigade burned down.
“On November 17, a fire occurred at a guarded equipment parking lot located inside a farm building on the northern outskirts of Mariupol. The cause of the incident was the abuse of alcohol and personal sloppiness of the militants guarding military equipment prohibited by the Minsk agreements,” said Bezsonov.
He said that in order to shelter from the wind and warm up from the frost, the Armed Forces officers lit a fire inside the building near the equipment, and then started drinking alcohol.
“Having gotten pretty drunk, the warriors lost their vigilance and allowed nearby equipment to catch fire. It was not possible to quickly extinguish the fire; only fire crews that arrived late were able to localize it,” added the representative of the defense department.
According to him, the fire destroyed a large amount of equipment and weapons of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
“As a result of this incident, the following were destroyed: 130-mm self-propelled ATGM 9p149 “Sturm-S” - 1 unit, anti-tank supersonic missile 9M114 "Cocoon" - 20 units, trigger mechanism 9p519 for the Igla MANPADS - 1 unit, anti-aircraft 9m39 guided missile for Igla MANPADS - 2 units, Kamaz-5320 vehicle - 1 unit, GAZ-66 vehicle - 1 unit, UAZ vehicle - 2 units, as well as dozens of radio stations, body armor and helmets stored in trucks,” said Daniil Bezsonov.
He also added that the brigade command, in order to evade responsibility, came up with another version for the investigation, according to which the equipment was destroyed from a short circuit as a result of an accidental break in power lines.
