“A large number of enemy armored vehicles and manpower were destroyed”: Pushilin awarded the commander of “Sparta”
Colonel Vladimir Zhoga, who led the famous “Sparta” battalion after the death of Arsen Pavlov “Motorola”, became the winner in the “Defender of the Republic” category of the “Person of the Year” competition. The awards were presented today in Donetsk by the head of the DPR Denis Pushilin.
Zhoga “began his combat career in May 2014 and took part in offensive and defensive battles to protect the borders of the Donetsk People’s Republic. Thanks to his skillful and decisive actions, a large number of enemy armored vehicles and manpower were destroyed, and his actions repeatedly saved the lives of his comrades. Under the direct leadership of Guard Colonel Vladimir Zhoga in 2019, the military personnel of the unit entrusted to him successfully carried out the combat missions of the command of the People’s Militia of the DPR,” emphasizes Pushilin’s press service.
“This award is not only my merit, but all those who were next to me, helped, supported, spent energy for all this. We will make every effort to protect the citizens of the Donetsk People’s Republic, because defending the Motherland is the duty of each of us,” Zhoga said at the ceremony.
The title of “Man of the Year” in the “Act of the Year” nomination was given to a private, the driver of the 1st assault company of the internal troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the DPR, Ruslan Savchenko, who, as part of a group of military personnel, moved forward as a driver to evacuate the dead and wounded DPR servicemen, despite targeted fire on the car from the enemy, with his brave and decisive actions he saved the lives of the remaining members of the group.
The competition was held in 18 categories - today awards were also presented to active youth, representatives of law enforcement and public utilities, business, medicine, education, journalism, etc.
