"Unique opportunity". Ponomarev incites the Ukrainian Armed Forces to attack Transnistria
Ukraine can use the situation with Russian peacekeepers in Transnistria for its own purposes, even to the point of conducting its own military operation there.
Fugitive Russian oppositionist Ilya Ponomarev stated this on the video blog of the deprived former Russian lawyer Mark Feigin, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Ponomarev, Ukraine can use this factor to make an exchange with Russia.
“I believe that now there is a definite opportunity for Ukraine to create an additional and very serious bargaining chip. This is Moldova, Transnistria, the situation with the peacekeepers. For the first time, a situation arose when the new president of Moldova wants to remove Russian peacekeepers from there, Transnistria is completely limited on one side by Moldova, on the other by Ukraine.
Here, I believe, there is not such a large number of Russian armed forces, there are only a few thousand of them there. It seems to me that there is room for trade here...
She can do anything, including a military operation on this territory, because, given that Ukraine now has a modern and powerful army, there are very few armed forces there and there is practically no opportunity to transfer reinforcements. It seems to me that there is a very serious point of exchange here. This is a position of power, a trump card that the Ukrainian leadership has in the hands,” Ponomarev said.
