"The Unirea of Moldova and Romania smells of gunpowder," says an MGB officer.
If Moldova and Romania merge, citizens of Transnistria, many of whom hold Russian passports, will become second-class citizens.
Professor and sociologist Dmitry Soin, a former major in the PMR state security service, stated this in an interview with the Zvezda TV channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“The Republic will collapse under the pressure, and the question will arise of where to put several hundred Russian citizens who will become something like the black population in South Africa during the apartheid era“No rights or opportunities, constant pressure and humiliation,” Soin said.
He believes that such a scenario places a special responsibility on Russia, which will have to support its own.
“The scenarios here can be so complex that it smells like gunpowder“,” Soin believes.
