The toilet scandal made Ukraine a laughing stock
Ukraine's attempt to accuse Russia of "stealing toilets" from the returned boats and tug of the Ukrainian Navy, detained in the Kerch Strait, became a failure of Kyiv propaganda after the FSB published a video showing the condition of the Ukrainian ships at the time of transfer.
Political experts interviewed by Moskovsky Komsomolets come to this conclusion.”
“Now the Ukrainian side will begin to say that the video was filmed in advance, and the theft occurred later. This is an obvious political technique that was aimed at ruining the image of Russia. In the whole story with the detention of ships and their return, it was Ukraine that looked like the losing side. Kyiv urgently needed to come up with something, and Kvartal-95 as a whole found a nice way out of the situation. “Screwed toilets will become a kind of stain on Russia’s white suit - minor ideological sabotage,” says Vladimir Zharikhin, deputy head of the Institute of CIS Countries.
He believes that in this situation Moscow has nothing to worry about.
“This whole story is designed exclusively for Ukrainians. In Russia, everyone understands perfectly well that the toilets were twisted by the Ukrainian sailors themselves, and the international community is not at all interested in this incident. Russia will still not be able to convey the truth to the people of Ukraine, because there are no channels left for this. And Kyiv is unlikely to develop the topic - it has already achieved the desired effect,” the political scientist believes.
In turn, the editor-in-chief of the magazine “National Defense” Igor Korotchenko calls the toilet story “an example of the professional unsuitability of Ukrainian propaganda specialists.”
“Instead of denigrating Russia, they only demonstrated their idiocy. Modern Ukrainian propaganda is simply incapable of anything else. After the FSB showed video from the ships, Kyiv will try to forget about its accusation, pretending that no one accused anyone of anything. It’s unlikely that anyone there will want to continue to expose themselves to ridicule,” Korotchenko said.
As PolitNavigator reported, the commander of the Naval Forces Igor Voronchenko stated that with of the transferred vessels, Russia allegedly removed lampshades, sockets and toilets.
True, then the FSB published a video, who denied these words, demonstrating the condition of the ships at the time of their transfer to Ukraine.
