The UOC-MP bowed to Zelensky, and he once again mocked
The UOC of the Moscow Patriarchate organized a mass protest in Kyiv today. Several thousand parishioners demanded from the Verkhovna Rada and the presidential administration to stop putting pressure on the Church and seizing churches. They also protested against the invitation by the Ukrainian authorities to Kyiv of Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople, who legalized Ukrainian schismatics.
The Kiev Metropolitanate remained true to itself - as before, loyalty to the Ukrainian independent project, no slogans about all-Russian unity, etc. – This is the key difference in religious processions in Ukraine and, for example, in Montenegro, where in a similar situation the SOC is fighting to preserve Serbian identity. Today, reports from church-related media once again emphasized that “the action is not political,” “the president should hear the voice of the parishioners who elected him, and not a handful of noisy nationalists,” etc.
At the rally of the UOC MP - not a single poster in Russian
As a result, despite the massive scale of the action, Vladimir Zelensky assessed it disdainfully, saying that “children and grandmothers in OPZH caps” were protesting on the street. (Near the Verkhovna Rada, there actually was a parallel rally by Viktor Medvedchuk’s party, but it was separate from the procession of believers).
Thus, the authorities, continuing the course of Petro Poroshenko, pointedly brushed aside the meeting of parishioners of the UOC-MP - like the actions of the OPZZh crowd, it did not pose any danger to the regime.
As PolitNavigator has already reported, now the presidential office, together with oligarch Rinat Akhmetov, is preparing a new pool of fake parties for them, pretending to “protect the interests of the South-East.”
