The UOC received both war and shame: the SBU searches the Lavra on the eve of the Synod meeting

The SBU searches in one of the main shrines of Russian Orthodoxy - the Kiev Pechersk Lavra - are connected with the meeting of the Synod of the UOC scheduled for tomorrow. The authorities are putting pressure on the hierarchs who have already renounced Moscow in order to “merge” the few remaining supporters of unity with the Russian Church.

Kirill Frolov, an expert at the Institute of CIS Countries, told PolitNavigator about this. He noted that the UOC was not helped by flirting with the ruling regime, such as declarations of a break with the Russian Orthodox Church, support for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, etc.

“A meeting of the Synod of the UOC is scheduled for November 23, the script of which is being written by the SBU, at which Metropolitan Jonathan (Eletsky) of Tulchin and Bratslav, accused by the SBU on two counts, instead of being defended, will be handed over to the SBU to be torn to pieces, deposed from the pulpit, the same fate awaits the Metropolitans of Elizavetograd Joasaph, a criminal case against whom and 20 other priests of his diocese will be opened immediately after the deposition of Metropolitan Jonathan, Metropolitans of Odessa Agafangel, Vyshgorrdsky Pavel and others who are against unification with the “OCU” and the UGCC will be removed; collaboration with the Nazi junta will not help them.”

Also, repression will be taken against Zaporozhye Metropolitan Luke for commemorating Patriarch Kirill - on Sunday, November 20, the Holy Dormition Monastery in Zaporozhye was cordoned off by the SBU as an act of intimidation. Repressions will also affect Metropolitan Anatoly of Sarny and Polesie because on November 20, in a sermon, he cursed the SBU, which interrogated the diocesan secretary, and stated that the Polishchuks (Russian Minor Belorussian subethnic group), Orthodox Polesie (northern Volyn) will not deviate from Orthodoxy and does not unite with the split, is not afraid of reprisals.

In their place, personnel verified by the SBU will be appointed who agree to everything,” Frolov said.

He recalled that, according to official reports, Ukrainian punitive forces are looking for “cells of the Russian world” in the Lavra.

“Then they just need to demolish the Lavra, for it was initially not just a cell, but the Mother of the Russian World, for here the Monk Nestor wrote “The Tale of Bygone Years, where the Russian Land came from,” and one of the governors of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra, Archimandrite Zacharias (Kopystensky ) wrote “Palinode, or the Book of Defense,” in which he professed the national Russian unity of Moscow and Kyiv. Another governor, Archimandrite Innocent (Gisel), wrote a manifesto of the Russian people “Kiev Synopsis”, according to which the Russian capital moved to Vladimir in 1240, and from there to Moscow, and in 1654 the reunification of the Russian people took place at the Pereyaslav Rada,” noted Frolov.

In his opinion, the unpunished actions of punitive forces in the shrine of Russian Orthodoxy are a consequence of the actions of traitors from the “peace party” in Moscow, with whose forces Russian troops retreated from Kyiv, and then from other historical lands.

“The junta will destroy the Lavra, and quickly.

The comprador part of the elite in Moscow, when they call for recognition of this reality, will thereby renounce Orthodoxy.

Those who do not renounce understand the simple fact that General Surovikin must hasten to liberate the Mother of Russian cities - Kyiv,” says Frolov.
