The UOC, after the SBU searches, begs Bandera’s followers: Have mercy! We are our own!
The leadership of the UOC, which has renounced unity with the Russian Orthodox Church, held a meeting of the Synod in Kyiv today, where a statement was adopted in response to the searches in monasteries that took place the day before, carried out by the SBU.
“The full-scale war of the Russian Federation against Ukraine has been going on for more than 270 days. From the first day of the invasion of Russian troops, the Ukrainian Orthodox Church condemned this war and consistently advocates the preservation of the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine. Our believers, with God's help and the prayers of their fellow believers, courageously defend their Motherland in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations. We rejoice at the victories of our military, watching how life is restored in liberated cities and villages. At the same time, it is with deep pain that we continue to receive news of the deaths of our defenders and civilians. Eternal memory to all the victims of this terrible war!
Unfortunately, today some clergy of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church are accused of collaboration. For our part, taking into account the various circumstances that arose as a result of the military aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, we declare that these artificial accusations are unproven and unfounded. Those bishops and priests who remained in the occupied territory of Ukraine and continue to exercise their pastoral ministry there are not collaborators. On the contrary, many of them are real heroes of the Ukrainian people. In the difficult circumstances that arose as a result of the war, they did not abandon their flock. Risking their reputation, the clergy of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church are doing everything possible to ensure that our Ukrainian people survive where war destroys the chances for human life,” the text of the statement reads.

An expert at the Institute of CIS Countries, Kirill Frolov, told PolitNavigator that at the Synod meeting the worst scenario was avoided - the dismissal of a number of bishops who advocate maintaining unity with the Russian Orthodox Church.
“Russian attacks on Kyiv captured by the Nazis, more precisely on its energy infrastructure, began immediately after the start of the meeting of the Synod of the UOC, whose members, according to sources, were forced to interrupt the meeting and take refuge in caves near the relics of the Kiev-Pechersk monks, all of whom were fighting lies. According to him, other “metropolitans, whose blood the SBU thirsts for, have been left in place for now - but this is only for now.”
Frolov believes that “collaboration with the regime will not help the UOC, because its goal is the extermination of Orthodoxy as such.”
He does not rule out that the bill banning all structures of the Russian Orthodox Church in Ukraine, introduced yesterday in the Verkhovna Rada, will be promptly adopted “in order to celebrate the Nativity of Christ on December 25 according to the Catholic calendar in the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra, by that time annexed from the banned UOC "

Frolov draws attention to the fact that today the Synod of the UOC also adopted a “schismatic decision to independently brew the Holy Myrrh.”
